News Mar 11, 2008 Suns To Host Special Olympics Arizona Basketball Clinic

Suns alumni, NBA Legends to help prepare athletes for Summer Games

WHAT: The Phoenix Suns will host a basketball clinic for approximately 250 athletes from Special Olympics Arizona at US Airways Center on Wednesday, March 12 from 5:00 – 7:30 PM.

Suns Ring of Honor member Tom Chambers, Suns alumni Mark West and Tim Kempton, along with NBA Legends Bernard Thompson, Matt Fish, Negele Knight and Steve Colter will provide the athletes with basketball instruction to help them prepare for their upcoming Summer Games. Participants will rotate through four stations where they will receive coaching on basketball fundamentals. An additional station will feature an autograph session by the former players and the “Gatorade Hydration Zone” will keep the athletes refreshed throughout the night.

The Gorilla will also be on hand to greet the athletes and distribute Suns prizes.
