KRISTI YAMAGUCHI JOINS FRIENDS AND FAMILY FOR SPECIAL SKATING SHOW
Saturday September 29th at 7:30pm
Phoenix, AZ. (July. 11, 2007) --- Olympic gold medalist and mother of two, KRISTI YAMAGUCHI
is headlining a talented group of skaters for a special evening of family entertainment in
the “KRISTI YAMAGAUCHI Friends and Family’’ice show,set for September 29 at U.S. Airways Center
in Phoenix, Arizona. Kurt Browning, a four time world champion, will be co-hosting
the show along side KRISTI YAMAGUCHI.
YAMAGUCHI, and husband Bret Hedican, are parents of two daughters. Keara was born in 2003,
and Emma arrived in 2005. Their children have big skates to fill as YAMAGUCHI has won a gold medal
and Hedican was part of the Carolina Hurricanes team that won the coveted Stanley Cup title in 2006.
YAMAGUCHI has always been involved with children’s organizations, and established her Always Dream
Foundation for children in 1996.
The 2007 show also will feature THE CHEETAH GIRLS, bringing a fresh young look to the family show.
THE CHEETAH GIRLS will perform four songs live, dedicating these numbers to the children.
The CHEETAH GIRLS are one of the most popular American teen girl bands in the nation. The Disney
creation was based on a series of books about a girl band. In addition, the show will also
feature CORBIN BLEU, who starred in the Disney hit “High School Musical.’’ Bleu had
one of the lead roles as “Chad’’ in ‘High School Musical’ and that helped him land another Disney
movie role in “Jump In!.’’ Fans will be treated to some hot new music by Bleu as he is set to perform
some of his latest music from his debut solo album, “Another Side.”
Among the skaters (and parents) joining YAMAGUCHI in the show this year are two-time Olympic medalist
Nancy Kerrigan, Olympic gold medalists Ekaterina Gordeeva, Ilia Kulik and Viktor Petrenko, three-time U.S.
Champion Michael Weiss, U.S. and World pair medalists, Jenni Meno and Todd Sand, and Rocky Marvel
with his wife Isabelle Brasseur (world medalist with partner Lloyd Eisler) and their daughter.
This is the sixth year that YAMAGUCHI’S network skating special will air on NBC,
and this is the third year she will invite fellow skaters who are parents. All of the songs the skaters will
be skating to in the show will be dedicated to their children who will be in attendance at the show.
