Mercury’s Taurasi to host fundraiser to benefit Guadalupe Boys and Girls Club
Mercury’s Pondexter and Seattle Storm’s Bird and Jackson to team up for Learn and Play Center
PHOENIX– Mercury All-Star Guard Diana Taurasi along with WNBA All-Stars Cappie Pondexter, Sue Bird and Lauren Jackson will host an exclusive fundraising event at Majerle's Sports Bar on Tuesday, July 17 immediately following the Phoenix Mercury vs. Seattle Storm match-up at US Airways Center.
The Fab Four Charity Event, sponsored by Hornitos, features five all-inclusive VIP auction packages available for bidding through Friday at www.phoenixmercury.com . VIP packages include two passes for the red carpet and the exclusive Majerles Cotton Club, all-you-can-eat and drink for the evening, a photo of the winning bidder with the Fab Four on the red carpet and two gift bags. Gift bags will be filled with merchandise selected and autographed by Diana Taurasi, gifts from Hornitos, Nike merchandise and two official event t-shirts featuring the Fab Four logo. A limited number of individual tickets for the event are also available for purchase.
“I feel very passionately about creating a Learn and Play Center for the Guadalupe Boys and Girls Club,” said Taurasi. “The dropout rate in that community is almost 80 percent and I hope that this center will encourage kids to study and focus on school by providing them a creative environment. The fundraiser that I am hosting at Majerle’s with Cappie, Sue and Lauren is a fun way to raise money. I am so grateful to the loyal Mercury fans for supporting this initiative and I look forward to spending time with them at the event.”
Proceeds from the auction and event will benefit Taurasi’s favorite charities, including the building of a Learn and Play Center at the Guadalupe Boys & Girls Club. Majerle's Sports Bar will also be donating $1 from every food and beverage item purchased.
