Governor cheers on Suns at playoff pep rally
Governor Janet Napolitano joined fans today at the US Airways Center to cheer the Phoenix Suns on in their NBA Western Conference Finals series against the Dallas Mavericks. With their 106-86 win in last night’s Game 4, the Suns have evened the best-of-seven series at two games apiece.
“You’ve got the whole state cheering for the Phoenix Suns!” said Governor Napolitano. “They’ve already given us a great season and a great couple of playoff rounds. Let’s let them know we’re behind them as they go for the NBA championship!”
The Governor proclaimed this week to be “Suns Week” in Arizona. She also presented Suns Chairman and CEO Jerry Colangelo with a plaque naming the Suns an Arizona Treasure. The Arizona Treasures distinction is reserved for groups, events, and locations that are truly outstanding and a source of pride for Arizonans.
In addition to the Governor and Jerry Colangelo, the pep rally featured several Suns players, appearances by The Gorilla and the Suns Dancers.
